Water Colors

I recently just bought a easy set up pool. I filled it up with the garden hose (850 gallons worth) and We have very hard water, so its a rust color. How can I get the rust look out of the water and get it clear? Should I put the chlorine tablets and shock it now or wait for an analysis of the water? This is my first time ever setting up a pool. Usually my daughter just ran through the sprinkler:) Me and my great ideas.
